What Is a Pre-Engineered Building?
A Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) is a factory-engineered, steel-framed structure designed to precise specifications and delivered as a complete kit of parts, ready to erect on site with no cutting, welding, or guesswork. Every component, from primary rafters and columns to secondary purlins and cladding sheets, is designed, fabricated, and pre-drilled at our facility in Bangalore before it leaves our yard.
The result: faster construction, lower on-site waste, tighter cost control, and a structure that meets IS 800, IS 875, and NBC 2016 standards from day one.
Primary Framing Systems
The primary frame is the structural backbone of every Alphaspan building. We fabricate all primary frames from IS 2062 Grade steel using our in-house CNC plasma cutter and automated pull-through welding machine, ensuring dimensional accuracy and full weld penetration on every joint.
Clear Span Rigid Frame
A single-span frame with no internal columns, the most popular choice for warehouses, logistics parks, and production halls where unobstructed floor space is critical. Available in clear spans up to 90 metres.
- Ideal for: warehouses, factories, logistics hubs, large retail showrooms
- Typical spans: 15m to 90m clear
- Roof slopes: 1:10 standard, custom slopes available

Multi-Span Rigid Frame
Multiple bays sharing interior columns, the economical solution for very large footprints where some internal columns can be accommodated in the layout.
- Ideal for: manufacturing plants, large distribution centres, airports
- Typical bay widths: 15m to 30m per bay
- Interior columns can incorporate crane beams and mezzanines
Lean-To / Mono-Slope
A single-pitch frame that leans against an existing structure or stands independently. Commonly used for canopies, extensions, and covered walkways.
- Ideal for: shed extensions, loading bays, petrol station canopies, covered corridors
Multi-Gable / Sawtooth
Multiple parallel gables on a shared base, suited to large industrial complexes where natural light and ventilation through ridge skylights are important.
- Ideal for: textile mills, food processing plants, large manufacturing halls
Secondary Structural Systems
Secondary members carry the cladding load and tie the primary frame together. At Alphaspan, secondary members are cold-formed on our in-house purlin profile machine to exact lengths, eliminating waste and ensuring fast, predictable erection.
- Purlins & Girts: Z and C sections, galvanised cold-formed from high-tensile coil
- Bracings: diagonal rod bracing, flange bracing, angle bracing, designed per wind zone
- Eave Struts: structural members at eave line combining girt and purlin functions
- Base Angles & Flashing: weatherproofing interface between structure and foundation
- Mezzanine Floors: integrated steel mezzanines for office, storage, or production use

Design Standards & Engineering
Every Alphaspan building is designed by our in-house engineering team using STAAD.Pro structural analysis software, with detailing in AutoCAD. All structures are designed and checked against:
- IS 800:2007 - General construction in steel
- IS 875 (Parts 1, 2 & 3) - Dead, live, and wind loads
- IS 1893 - Seismic design for applicable zones
- NBC 2016 - National Building Code of India
Mill Test Certificates (MTCs) for all structural steel are provided as standard. Third-party inspection is available on request.
